Jack and I met when the two of us attended the university together.

I always liked Jack and I thought he was a great guy.

I was happy to introduce him to my sister. They didn’t have a love match, but it would have been cool if they did. After university, Jack moved out west and I took a job close to home. Jack recently reached out to me and invited me to come to the West Coast for a week of fun and fishing. When we were in college, the guy told me that he was going to buy a boat. It was something that was on his bucket list. He thought about me when he bought the boat and he wanted me to fly halfway across the country to join him for the maiden fishing voyage. There was absolutely no way that I was going to say no to that adventure. My girlfriend wasn’t exactly thrilled with the fact that I ditched her and all of our plans to join Jack, but I felt like it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Jack met me at the airport in his brand new red Porsche. The guy was doing way better than she led me to believe. We went directly to the marina after we stopped at a recreational marijuana shop. The recreational marijuana shop was close to the airport. Jack told me to pick whatever recreational marijuana supplies I wanted for the fishing trip. We were going to be gone a week, so I picked out as much as the dispensary would allow and so did Jack.

It said there was no experience necessary in order to work at the marijuana dispensary. I had some sales experience and that is why the manager ended up calling me for an interview. The woman offered me a job. She said that I would have to attend a class at the dispensary that would teach me about the laws, rules, and regulations regarding medical and recreational marijuana. After the class, I would be certified for two years and I got paid to attend the class. I accepted the job when the woman offered it to me. When she told me that I was going to need to give up an entire Saturday, I was surprised. She told me that the budtender class was 8 hours long. I had to be there for the entire class and passed the test in order to get my budtender certification card. I honestly thought the class was probably going to be boring. I wasn’t looking forward to giving up a Saturday with my friends. On the day of the class, my friends went surfing and kayaking. I had to go to the all-day class. Thankfully, the eight-hour class wasn’t boring at all. It was very educational and informative. I listened to everything that the director had to say and I paid attention to each and every one of the videos that were presented. I wanted to pass the class with the best score.

 

Medical cannabis

My girlfriend and I were on our way to the theater, and we passed by a dispensary that had a 50% off for new medical patients sale advertisement in the window.

It was impossible not to go into the store after seeing those prices.

50% off is a huge savings and both my girlfriend and I have our medical marijuana cards. We walked into the dispensary and there was a representative from one of the edible marijuana companies. The guy was giving away free samples of their new edible cookies. The cookies have 20 mg of thc in each and they were scored on the top for easy dosing. You could dose the cookies in increments of 5mg very easily. The cookies had a very good flavor. The edible cookies were made with real butter, milk, and cream. The representative told us that the flavors included chocolate chip, peanut butter, snickerdoodle, and birthday cake. My girlfriend and I tried the birthday cake flavor. It was a nice sweet vanilla with candy sprinkles on the top. After we had the chance to try the flavors, my girlfriend and I decided to buy a bag of the cookies, so we could receive another bag of the cookies for free. We also purchased a two gram infused marijuana joint that was supposed to taste like grapes. I thought that the joint smells a lot like grapes, but it definitely didn’t taste like anything that resembled a grape flavor. It certainly got my girlfriend and I very high before we went into the theater. The show was pretty funny and being high made the whole experience even better.

My friends and I were going to hang out at my house to celebrate my 25th birthday.

I honestly thought that was the plan, but the guy surprised me and we all went to a sports bar to watch the fight on Pay-Per-View.

There were a ton of people at the event. They had sales on wings, appetizers, and drinks. I drink at least one or two pictures more than I should have. By the time I left the bar later that night, I was totally wrecked. I barely remember getting home. Thank goodness for a designated driver. There’s no way I would have been able to call myself a cab after drinking that much beer. The reason why my friends and I were going to hang out at my house instead of going to a bar was due to the fact that I had to work that next day. When my alarm ring at 7:30 a.m., I wanted to hit the snooze button. Unfortunately, I had to be at the marijuana dispensary by 8 am. I already cut it close when I set the alarm for 7:30 instead of 7. I didn’t have any time to waste and I definitely didn’t have any time to spare. From the moment that I arrived at the marijuana dispensary, the place was packed with people. I had to work on the sales floor taking orders. I must have spoken to 50 different cannabis patients that morning. When it was time for lunch, all I could think about was a nap. I clocked out as quickly as possible and went to my car. I thought a short nap would make me feel refreshed, but it made me feel worse.

The local marijuana dispensary has been open for 5 years. They recently had a celebration to commemorate the fifth year in business. They had several different food trucks in the parking lot and lots of games for prizes and free stuff. My girlfriend and I decided to go to the party. The parking lot was filled with cars when we arrived. The marijuana dispensary was busier than I ever saw the place. There were a couple of clowns in the parking lot entertaining some kids. It looked like a carnival or a fair. There was a prize giveaway for every person that has spent more than $50. My girlfriend and I both decided to spend $50 so we could have a chance at the prize giveaway. During the giveaway, each person got to spin a large wheel. There were lots of different prizes on the wheel, including free marijuana, t-shirts, hats, posters, and keychains. There was a single grand prize space on the wheel. It was smaller than all of the other spaces on the Wheel. I spun the wheel as hard as I could. The lady rolled her eyes, and told me that I didn’t have to spin that hard. I landed on a free t-shirt space and I picked a t-shirt with the name of the marijuana dispensary on the front. My girlfriend spun the wheel much more softly. The wheel got closer and closer to the grand prize space, but my girlfriend missed the win by two spots. She did walk away with a free ⅛ of top-shelf marijuana. Not a bad prize for second place, if you ask me.

I regularly use recreational marijuana products, but I am not a connoisseur of the products.

I still get high on the cheapest product, so I don’t have to be picky. I usually choose one of the cheaper marijuana products. I prefer to smoke marijuana flower, but I also vape cannabis concentrates from time to time. The budtender at the dispensary was trying to get me to buy this concentrate that was $60 for a gram. I told the guy that it sounded great, but it was way too expensive for me. When I asked the guy to show me the concentrates that were less than $20, he had a bizarre and odd look on his face. I know the guy doesn’t work for commission, so it shouldn’t matter to him if I want to look at $20 grams of concentrate or $200 grams of concentrate. The budtender made me feel a certain way. I didn’t like the look on his face. When I got up to the counter to pay for my items, I asked the person behind the counter if I could speak with the manager. The guy walked out from behind the counter and pulled me over to the side so the two of us could talk. I told the manager that I’m not really picky when it comes to my marijuana. I can get high off a $20 gram and that should not get judgment from anybody in the store. The manager agreed with me and he forced the budtender to apologize before I left the store. The guy looked so mad and angry.

The first time that I ever experienced a true migraine headache, I was 12 years old.

I woke up from a sound sleep and my head was throbbing.

I ran to my parents bedroom and I cried and cried. The next day, my mom took me to the doctor to have some tests run. Everyone was scared that I had a brain tumor after the migraines started happening frequently. I must have visited 10 different specialists during that first year that I was experiencing the migraines. One of the specialists told my parents that medical marijuana might be able to help with migraine symptoms when they occur. My parents were willing to try anything. I was 15 at that time. The doctor put me on a low dose cannabis pill and I took the pill once in the morning and once at night. For the first few weeks, I definitely felt some of the effects from the marijuana pill. I was a bit high, dizzy, and very talkative. My friends noticed the difference. They actually liked the way I acted when I was using medical marijuana. I wasn’t very talkative most of the time, but it made me very sociable and less self-conscious.I still use medical cannabis everyday to help with the migraines. I’ve had dozens of tests and no one can figure out why the migraines are still occurring after 30 years. It’s a very strange thing to happen. Thankfully medical marijuana does provide me with some relief when the migraine symptoms are absolutely at their worst. Taking a regular daily dosage has also lessened the occurrences of the migraines by 80%.

A couple of my friends and I went to a concert out in the desert.

• The concert was supposed to last all day, so I went to the dispensary on our way out of town.

Nobody else wanted to stop at the dispensary, but I didn’t want to run out of supplies and find myself 200 miles away from the closest marijuana shop. I told my friends that I would meet them at the venue and we would hook up then. I stopped at the dispensary for 5 or 10 minutes. I was trying to be as quick as possible. I purchased a 12-pack of half-gram infused marijuana joints to share with my friends. I also bought some edible gummies. I ate most of them on my way to the venue. I gathered all of my recreational marijuana supplies and I drove over to the desert location for the concert. The place was packed and there were thousands and thousands of people everywhere. It was impossible to see my friend’s car, even though we only had a few minutes between us. I started calling Jack, but the crowds made it difficult for him to hear his phone. I called 12 or 13 times before that guy finally picked up. He was right around the corner. Everyone was waiting for me so we didn’t get lost or separated in the crowd. There must have been fifty or sixty thousand people at the venue in the desert. It was a fun and exciting experience, but I can say for sure that I won’t attend that fiasco ever again.

I had to make changes to my lifestyle when I finally had kids with my loving wife.

It helped having some experience taking care of older family members which completely removed any hangups I could have had with cleaning diapers or anything like that.

I think my wife was impressed with how motivated I was when we had our daughter first. Some fathers look terrified and stiff as a block of wood, but I was ready to help from the very first moment. Now that we have three kids and they’re all over five years old, I think it’s even harder being a parent. They have brains and think for themselves, often to the worst results. I hate it when they inadvertently hurt themselves badly just trying to have fun with their friends, but they have to learn somehow. With this in mind, it’s also important to remember that there are key things that we can do as parents to avoid as many unnecessary risks with our children as possible. We can’t leave out chemicals or alcohol where they could reach them, especially if they had no way to differentiate between one of these bottles and an edible beverage from the fridge. When I got my medical cannabis card in this state, I consciously made an effort to avoid cannabis flower products and concentrate because of the obvious aroma. But now I’m worried that some of my cannabis edibles look too much like normal candy and dessert treats. The packaging resembles store bought candy with a very tiny THC logo on one end. A young child could easily eat one of these cannabis candy products without having any clue what they’re getting themselves in for.

Even though money is extremely tight for me, I am happy to tip service workers when they do a good job. I live in a condominium that isn’t the easiest to access compared to a house where you drive up and can get to the front door in a matter of seconds. If you’re delivering food or packages to my door, you have to ascend an elevator five floors before walking another 30 yards to reach my unit. I always feel bad when I see the delivery technician exasperated or winded when I open the door to greet them. That’s when I will make an effort to give them a generous tip, as long as I can find petty cash or change somewhere in the kitchen or dining room. But it’s not just delivery workers that deserve the generosity of a tip when they’re giving exemplary service. Waiters and waitresses are paid extremely low wages and it’s expected that tipping is supposed to offset those tiny wages. If you don’t tip accordingly, the server can’t earn a real living and successfully pay all of their bills. The budtenders at the medical cannabis dispensaries are often compared to mere cashiers at a grocery store, but they’re not just there to scan products and accept payments. A good cannabis budtender will recommend various cannabis products to their customers based on their needs and expectations. I love it when I find a cannabis budtender who is not only knowledgeable and helpful, but also kind to me the entire time. That’s when I’m more than content with tipping on top of whatever my order total comes out to after they apply my cannabis dispensary discounts.

I hated taking those ridiculous drug awareness classes in elementary school.

• It was the 1990s and the Reagan-era drug policies were still in full effect in many states nationwide, regardless of the brief change in guard in Washington D.C.

at the time. No matter what, a recurring theme that came up repeatedly was how dangerous marijuana was as a “gateway drug” to much more dangerous drugs like meth, cocaine, or heroin. One of the things that frustrated me the most was their desire to put alcohol in a separate category from “drugs” when it is in fact a drug itself, just like coffee or cigarettes. But the alcoholic school administrators were more than happy to keep feeding the narrative that alcohol is acceptable at a cultural level when the other “drugs” are not. I think that these anti-drug classes are still taught, but they’re not under the same curriculum that we were subjected to back in the day. Thankfully it’s a lot easier these days than ever before to find clear facts about the benefits of medical cannabis and its various forms. Aside from pain and stress reduction, there is research that suggests various constitutive ingredients in the cannabis plant might contribute to tumor reduction in patients with cancer. Cannabis products are sometimes prescribed to patients with severe epilepsy to great effects. Whenever researchers learn about new benefits of the cannabis plant, they’re published so that the public can consume them for their own purposes. I personally use cannabis as an antidepressant and find that sativa strains in particular are more effective than SSRIs for treating my chronic depression.

I took advantage of the two cannabis dispensary companies that offer free statewide delivery.

It took several years for my state to pass a law legalizing medical cannabis dispensaries after a few failed attempts just to get the measure put on the ballot for us to all vote on. I signed a petition several years during election cycles in the preceding years, but the supporters didn’t get enough signatures at first. It finally went to vote in 2014 but failed to reach the 60% approval threshold that is the law in my state specifically. But when the medical cannabis constitutional amendment was put on the ballot in 2016, over 70% of the electorate voted in favor. Unfortunately, it took some time for the state to approve licenses for new marijuana companies here and there was a lot of corruption between certain lobbyists and several state officials. However, by 2022 we have a fairly large selection of medical cannabis dispensaries statewide compared to some of the other states in the country. Most of them offer cannabis delivery services as well, which provides options for patients who either lack transportation or the money to put fuel in the car. I lived in an area for a while that was 30 minutes away from the nearest medical cannabis dispensaries. I took advantage of the two cannabis dispensary companies that offer free statewide delivery. They implemented these free delivery services before gas prices shot up, so I don’t know if these services will be permanent or not. Hopefully I won’t lose my option for free cannabis dispensary deliveries. It’s extremely convenient for people like myself who work from home and order many of their groceries through delivery services in the first place.

Camping is one of my favorite activities and I regularly go to one of the state parks every weekend.

There are several nice parks that are within an hour of my apartment. I would rather spend the weekend and nature than sitting inside of my house with the air conditioner running. I love the sound of the crickets and the birds and I love seeing all of the animals in nature like squirrels, deer, raccoons, and birds. I used to have a tent and I slept inside of the four-person building very comfortably. A park ranger came to my campsite one day because the guy smelled marijuana. I was smoking marijuana inside of the tent and it was very easy to smell. I got into some trouble and I was warned not to smoke inside the park again. After that, I decided to buy a small camper that I could tow behind my car. The camper has a hard shell, so the forest rangers cannot smell anything that is going on inside of my camper. Neither can any of the nosey people that might be camping in the site next to me. Before I go camping, I always buy extra cannabis supplies. The marijuana delivery service will not come down to the state park. The guard at the shop won’t even let the delivery driver into the gate. There’s absolutely no way to get delivery from any marijuana service, so I have to stock up and hope that I have enough for me and my friends. They never bring enough weed. I think it is probably because I always have enough, but I don’t want to run out.
